Accounts Receivable Processor

Job Title: Accounts Receivable Processor
Reports to: Controller/Assistant Treasurer
Department: Accounting

Purpose:  To collect, process, and report monies received from customers in accordance with established accounting policies and procedures.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process Accounts Receivable departmental mail and prepare for cash entry process
  • Accurately apply customer payments and prepare bank deposits
  • Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts, collect past due balances on accounts, and work with a collection agency as needed
  • Organize and maintain all department records including physical documents and digital files in an efficient and effective manner
  • Implement and enforce established account credit limit policies and communicate any related customer requests to Controller/Assistant Treasurer
  • Promptly answer customer phone calls and correspond with customers to advise on account status and assist in payment issue resolution
  • Manage end-of-day and end-of-month processes on software system
  • Generate and review Accounts Receivable statements monthly
  • Assist Circulation, Contributions, and Customer Service departments with accounting questions and issues
  • Additional duties, as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Two years’ experience in accounts receivable or related field
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task projects and meet deadlines
  • Must have excellent customer service, problem-solving, and strong communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Extended periods of time sitting at desk with possible eye strain from computer work
  • Flexible work schedule to accommodate for month-end closing duties
  • Some lifting
