Author Robert P. Lightner (1931–2018)

LightnerRobert P. Lightner, an influential Regular Baptist Press author, died Aug. 3 at 87.

Dr. Lightner was a theology professor at Dallas Theological Seminary for 50 years and wrote 24 books, five of which Regular Baptist Press published: Neo-Liberalism (1955), Neo-Evangelicalism (first edition 1965; second edition 1978), The Death Christ Died (1967, a classic authoritative work on unlimited atonement), Heaven for Those Who Can’t Believe (1977), and Speaking in Tongues and Divine Healing (first edition 1965; second edition 1978; third edition 2017).

“His writings were influential in shaping Regular Baptist thought for decades,” says David Gunn, director of Regular Baptist Press.
