Author Tim Valiante Helps Launch Seminary in the Philippines

Tim Valiante and familyNEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Philippines—Tim Valiante, author of God Gives More Grace: Walking with God through Life’s Trials, helped launch Haven of Grace Seminary in the Philippines. July 1 marked the first day of classes, with 16 students enrolled in the school’s MA and MDiv courses. Tim is teaching two of those courses: Greek grammar and hermeneutics.

“After years of preparation and planning, it was just great to get started,” Tim says. “The students have been engaged and excited to learn more about the Word of God.”

Tim became director of the seminary in June 2017. Prior to that time, Tim (DMin, Clarks Summit University) was in pastoral ministry for 14 years—as assistant pastor at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Newark, Delaware, for seven years and pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church Millville, Pennsylvania, for seven years.

Tim says he “is grateful to invest his life in equipping and training men for Gospel ministry in the Philippines and throughout Southeast Asia.”

He and his family relocated to the Philippines in May. They spent a few days with friends in Manila before flying to Bacolod, just outside the school’s location. “One thing that reminded us of God’s care for us,” Tim says, “was being able to fit our whole family, along with all of our luggage (including two large cat carriers) in their van to make it back to their home. We weren’t really sure how everything fit, but our family has been joking since that time that God Gave More Space.”

The Valiantes thank everyone who has prayed for them, encouraged them, and provided financial support. Tim says, “I am extremely grateful for the grace God has given to our family, and for the opportunity we have had to serve Him.”
