‘Operation Safe Harbor’ Missions Project

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.—Regular Baptist Press is once again emphasizing orphans. As the RBP team prayed about next year’s VBS missions project, God led them to choose orphans as the offering recipients. Then, tying it in with the 2020 theme, Big Fish Bay: Hooked on God’s Mercy, the team named the project Operation Safe Harbor.

Operation Safe Harbor aims to aid both individual orphans and entire orphanages.

  • An offering of $40 will pay the costs for one orphan to go to school.
  • An offering of $45 will give two orphans a bunk bed so they don’t have to sleep on the floor. Sleeping on the floor often leads to illness, so bunk beds are a healthier choice.
  • An offering of $50 will provide an orphan with food for a month.
  • An offering of $200 will provide an orphanage with a set of cookware for preparing the orphans’ meals.

Specifically, this missions project offering will be given for orphans in Bangladesh, Haiti, India, Myanmar, and Uganda, where disease, war, crime, or natural disasters have robbed children of their parents.

Operation Safe Harbor posterWhen a church chooses Operation Safe Harbor—whether as a VBS missions project or as another special offering—the church can order free Operation Safe Harbor posters and a promotional video. Stories about individual orphans and photos are available on the Big Fish Bay Director Resource CD Set. And information is available on the Regular Baptist International website.

The RBP team says the VBS 2020 missions project is a wonderful opportunity for children around the world. “Orphans will receive help they need. And through Operation Safe Harbor, both students and adults will have the opportunity to provide that help.”
