“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints” (Ephesians 6:18).
How will you be letting your community know about Stompers & Chompers: Building Dino-Sized Faith in God’s Big Plan? Will you be sending out postcards? Hanging doorknob hangers? Always involve prayer warriors! To emphasize the particular activity, you could, for example, place a postcard or doorknob hanger on a colorful Vacation Bible School prayer bulletin board along with a prayer request that your efforts will result in children coming to Vacation Bible School and hearing the good news of God’s big plan for them.
Are you going out to place theme posters in business windows or to hang the waterproof banner? Stop for a moment of prayer, asking that people will see and respond.
Get as many people praying as possible.
Here are five ideas for surrounding your efforts with prayer from prayer warriors of all ages:
1. Place Vacation Bible School requests on the church prayer list.
2. Ask your pastor to lead the way by including Vacation Bible School in his public prayer.
3. Pray at prayer meeting.
4. Pray in Sunday School classes of all ages. Even the smallest children can become interested in sentence prayers, asking that their friends would come and learn about Jesus.
5. Keep shut-ins, military service members, and college students informed of Vacation Bible School prayer requests while they’re away from home.
Your church’s prayer warriors want to know how to pray! Don’t keep your needs and goals a secret. Keep your church people informed so they can participate in prayer, planning, and preparation. If they do not know you need a craft director or are seeking to get an article about your upcoming VBS in the local newspaper, how can they pray for the need?
There’s no power without prayer. Only God can change lives!
