Elgin, Ill. (June 18, 2025) — In a world that often feels like it’s falling apart, Regular Baptist Press is inviting kids to discover a message of hope and transformation through its newly announced 2026 Vacation Bible School theme: Junkyard Redemption: God’s Master Plan to Remake Our Broken World.
Set in a once-thriving roadside attraction now reduced to a rusted junkyard, this year’s theme uses the imagery of brokenness and restoration to help children understand the redemptive arc of Scripture—from the problem of sin breaking God’s prefect creation to the promise of a new earth.
For the first time, RBP VBS includes a full drama script, allowing churches to bring the theme to life through a compelling narrative that mirrors the spiritual journey kids will take as they explore God’s redemptive plan. Through the eyes of a young girl spending the summer with her grandpa, kids will explore how God’s promises bring healing, freedom, and lasting hope. This new feature provides a fresh way to engage children through storytelling and character development.
Rooted in Ephesians 1:7, Junkyard Redemption is more than just a creative setting—it’s a gospel-centered journey that helps children make sense of the pain and confusion they see in the world around them. Each day’s lesson tackles a big question: What went wrong with our world? Who can fix it? Who should rule my life? What did it cost to fix what’s broken? And when will everything finally be made right?
The answers unfold across five days of Bible-rich teaching:
- Day 1 – Creation: God’s Perfect World Breaks (Genesis)
- Day 2 – Nation: God Makes Eternal Promises (Genesis & Exodus)
- Day 3 – Kingdom: God Promises a Perfect Ruler (1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Chronicles)
- Day 4 – Savior: God Sends His Perfect Sacrifice (John)
- Day 5 – Redemption: God Promises a New Earth (Revelation)
“Our world feels like a junkyard sometimes—full of broken dreams, pain, and tough questions,” said Joshua Mason, VBS creative manager. “But God’s Word shows us that He’s not done. He’s redeeming, creating people anew, and one day He will make all things new.”
The theme’s narrative is brought to life through engaging drama scripts (a puppet version is also included), hands-on crafts that turn trash into treasure, and vibrant activities designed to reinforce Biblical truths. And check out RBP’s exciting decorations that will engage kids with the narrative. These immersive elements help children internalize the gospel message in memorable and meaningful ways.
In response to growing demand, RBP is also expanding its Bible translation options. For the first time, churches can choose from English Standard Version (ESV), New King James Version (NKJV), or King James Version (KJV)—making it easier than ever to align VBS materials with their ministry preferences.
Early reactions from church leaders have been overwhelmingly positive. “I’ve not ever seen a theme like this, and to say that I’m excited is an understatement!” said Nathan G., a pastor in Iowa. Others praised the Biblical depth of the curriculum. “I don’t recall a lesson ever out of Revelation. You guys truly hit the Bible from start to finish,” said Kate Q. from Maryland. Karen C. of Missouri added, “Teaching about redemption! So powerful! And with everything going on in the world, the kids need to understand about hope! Our future is secure when we belong to Him.” Jamie H. from Pennsylvania summed it up: “We haven’t even done this year’s VBS yet and I’m already hoping and praying we do this one next year!”
