Ready for Christmas

Simple. Hassle-Free. Low Budget. Thoughtful.

Wait . . . are we still talking about Christmas? And since when was a Christmas program ever “hassle free”?

This year, celebrate Christmas with a quiet, thoughtful reflection on God’s “humble gift of love.” Ready for Christmas  features a flexible and easy-to-rehearse format, organized around “Joy Has Dawned,” a new carol written by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend. After each age group explores ways to put Christ back into Christmas, the program concludes with a simple Puritan prayer asking, “What shall I render to You for the gift of gifts, Your own dear Son?”

Ready for Christmas demonstrates what your children are already learning during Sunday School. The program includes several songs, poems, and memory verses that coordinate with some of the Regular Baptist Press Sunday School curriculum. Sunday School teachers will appreciate this integrated idea—too often we struggle to “steal” time from Sunday School to practice for the Christmas program. Why not work on both at the same time?

Mary Behrends has served the Lord in her home, rearing four children with her husband, Mark, and has served at church in youth, music, prayer, and teaching ministries. In addition to Ready for Christmas, Mary’s writing ministry includes puppet scripts and her church’s annual Christmas youth outreach (held in a barn), which has become a tradition in her community.
