FBBC&TS’s Dr. Myron Houghton to Retire

ANKENY, Iowa—Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary announced that after nearly 50 years of teaching, Dr. Myron Houghton will retire at the end of the 2018–19 school year.

Dr. Houghton began his teaching ministry in 1971 at Denver Baptist Bible College and at FBBC in 1983. Once the seminary opened in 1986, “Dr. Myron,” as he is known, became chairman of the theology department and has been the only person to serve in that position during the seminary’s 32-year history. At the conclusion of Dr. Houghton’s retirement, his teaching ministry will have spanned 48 years.

Dr. Houghton wrote Regular Baptist Book’s Law & Grace, an exposition of Romans that presents a dispensational framework for distinguishing key theological concepts on law and grace. His hallmark exegesis and practical applications have benefitted readers, as well as students at FBBC&TS.

Dr. Houghton also updated and expanded Charismatic Confusion, originally written by the late Ernest Pickering. Houghton brought the topic of the charismatic movement into the twenty-first century with his explanation of more recent developments, helping readers understand the charismatic movement from a Biblical standpoint and answering questions about the temporary nature of some spiritual gifts.

Regular Baptist Press congratulates Dr. Myron Houghton on his upcoming retirement and nearly 50 years of teaching ministry.
