Postcards Become Prayer Cards

Fairly soon children will be stomping and chomping their way through your “jungle” as they enjoy Stompers & Chompers: Building Dino-Size Faith in God’s Big Plan. In the meantime, how do you line up and communicate with prayer warriors? How do you keep VBS a priority in people’s prayers and thinking? Easy! Turn postcards into prayer cards!

Commitment Cards

If you haven’t already lined up prayer warriors, you can use Stompers & Chompers postcards and the postcard template available on the Resources CD in the Director Resources CD Set to write a prayer commitment card such as the following:

yellow postcard with black text

Ask volunteers to fill out the postcards and drop them into an offering plate/box or other designated place. Collect the cards. Follow through by emailing and texting, but remember that people enjoying getting more than junk mail in their mailboxes. A few words on a postcard from you can brighten someone’s day and remind that person to pray for VBS.

Prayer Lists

Prepare a list of prayer requests and praises to email or text to each person who returned a commitment card. Update the prayer list periodically.

Also consider printing general prayer requests on Stompers & Chompers postcards and handing them out to those who committed to pray and at prayer meeting. More detailed requests can be shared with only those who committed to pray. Ask prayer warriors to keep all requests confidential. If you refer to children by name, use initials or first or last names only.

You will have more power in your preparation, promotion, and ministry when God’s people support you through prayer.

This is part 4 in the four-part series No Power without Prayer. Read, “Dino-Sized Faith in God’s Plan for VBS,” “Check Your Checklist and Ask Others to Pray,” and “Prayer Warriors.”
