Myron Houghton Speaks at Bible Conference

Myron HoughtonWARWICK, R.I.—Leaders of a Bible conference in Rhode Island invited Dr. Myron Houghton to speak. During sessions of the three-day conference, he led attendees through Romans 6—8, teaching about believers’ union with Christ, believers’ ongoing struggle with the sinful nature, and life in the Spirit.

Houghton is author of Law and Gracewhich uses an exposition of Romans to help readers understand the Bible’s teaching on law and grace, and he has updated and expanded the book Charismatic Confusion. He is also chair of the theological studies department and director of the MA in theological studies program at Faith Baptist Theological Seminary.

Houghton “has had an academic career marked by impeccable scholarship, a personal interest in students, and an emphasis on what he calls a ‘churchly benefit’ from systematic theology,” says the Baptist Bulletin article “New Books for a New Generation.” “Houghton’s words are a necessary antidote in a postmodern world where a new perspective on Paul has led to less confidence in what the Holy Spirit is saying to us today.”
